Evening- as the heading says, can anyone advise if the new insignia 1.6 or 2l diesels are chain cams?

I may be wrong but as far as I'm aware the 1.6 is an all new chain driven motor and the 2.0 is an updated version of the old belt driven motor from the old model. Both are based on Fiat designs and the 2.0 doesn't shroud itself in glory regarding long term reliability while the 1.6 is still largely untested as it's so new but I don't hold much hope for it. If the bean counters had only allowed for another Isuzu design as the tough old 1.7 motor I'd give it a thumbs up.

Hang on a year or so and PSA will be putting their own engines in Insignia, and Astra.

Thanks guys. I'll stear well clear of it. Every taxi driver i know with the insignia has had major problems. Shame lovely looking car. If they had stuck a TDI there it would be an almost perfect car!
