Toyota Yaris 1.33 VVT-i T Spirit Nav - Radiator Seaping Advisory - Mark Corrigan

Hello,

I've been getting an itch for a while now to finally upgrade my T reg Corolla to something a bit more modern. Browsing through dealerships online I found a 2011 Yaris, 58k miles for under 4k which was a fair bit cheaper than other examples I'd seen.

In my rush I went and put a deposit down on it before having a proper check. After doing an MOT history check I seen that on it's last MOT it one of its advisories was "radiator seaping from bottom seal". I'm now worried that this a potentially serious issue and this is perhaps why the car is priced accordingly.

Is this a big deal? Should I avoid this car? Or am I blowing this out proportion in my mind, because beforehand I was all for the car, but now this is making me very wary.

All advice is much appreciated

Thanks,

Mark

It is most likely a hose that is not seated in place fully, or there is a small crack in the end of the hose. Replacement of the hose - or putting it back on properly - would fix the problem.

The more expensive alternate problem is that the radiator itself has a very small crack at the bottom joint. But unlikely.

Basically, tell the garage you've found this problem from the last MOT, and you want - in writing - them to tell you that it has been fixed. They then become completely liable.
