Hi,

My 2007 Landrover Freelander will not lock my car with the key fob. The car starts and stops with no problem using the key fob. I am lead to believe that the battery in the key fob charges everytime it is inserted into the ignition when starting the car so i am thinking the key fob is charged.

Has anyone any suggestions why my car will not lock using the key fob?

Any help is much appreciated.

Yes I have a spare key and it's doing exactly the same as the first key.

Not sure if it charges it or not, some cars do but they'll still have batteries in them that eventually need replacing. Did they just suddenly stop working or was it a gradual decline? Apparently they're a bit of a b***** to reset but the procedure should be in the owners manual. Certainly the most likely culprit and cheapest thing to tackle.

Does the locking work from the switch on the dashboard? Are you sure the Bonnet is fully shut correctly ?

I checked the bonnet and it's fully closed. The central locking works using the bottom on the dashboard. The key declined over the previous days to the point now that it does not operate the central locking at all.

Looks like it's a sealed unit,but the battery can be replaced with a little diy help.www.greenlandrover.uk/replacing-battery-in-a-freel.../

A few days ago I tried to lock the doors and when I pushed the button the windows went down I don't know what caused that to happen.
