i am going to fit a pair of 55watt h3 spot lights and they have also have a blue liight around the edge of the spot lights. for the switching of the relay i am going to take a feed from the main beam at the head light to a swicth inside the vehicle. for the blue light around the edge of the spot light take a feed from the side light but this vehicle has dip dim so has anyone got any instructions to get over this issue

You need to be a bit careful here,as a lot of Nissan (and other Jap type cars)use a negative switch circuit.You will need to pick up the high beam circuit across the 2 wires at the headlight bulb that are pos and neg when switched to main beam.This will be the relay trigger circuit.The blue edge light can be taken from the sidelight supply from the same headlight unit.The dim/dip circuit should not be affected,as this is reduced power to the dip beam circuit.

so does that mean i have got to wire the relay for negititve swtiching also the motor factors

where i got my relay said a 20 amp relay i thought it should be 30amp

2 x 55w bulbs draw around 10 amps,so a 20 amp relay will be fine.You can use a 30 amp relay if reqd without issue. If your car uses an H4 3 pin headlight bulb,then wire the relay pins marked 85 and 86 across the 2 outer (vertical ) pins of the bulb.

thanks for that reply if that does the switching of the relay how do i wire up a switch in the car so i can isolate the spot lights when i dont want them in use

Use a regular on/off switch to interrupt the circuit to either terminal 85 or 86 of the relay.

i have got the spots lights bolted on and the blue rim working there are four 12v 5watts builbs

in each spot light for the blue rim feed taken from side light should i put a in line fuse in the feed wire.

also is it a 1amp fuse for the switching of the relay for the spot lights feed taken from the head light main beam, is it law in the uk that the spot lights have to be switched by the main

beam circuit.
