Hi All,

Recently acquired new E Class Estate AMG Line. Is there anything to stop me putting non Mercedes MO wheels and tyres on it?

I would check with your insurance company first if you are thinking of putting non standard Merc wheels on your car. Tyres of the same size and rating as your existing ones will be fine even if they aren't marked 'MO'.

Many thanks, The tyres on car are on 20" wheels and I want to have a greater choice of tyre in both sunmmer and winter so I wanted to fit 18s. Dont mind getting Mercedes 'MO'18" wheels if necessary. I'm hoping this will not invalidate warranty and be ok with insurers.

As long as the wheels fit and are at a minimum TUV approved - I'll come back to that in a moment - and the tyres are of an approved size for the wheels and car, then you're good to go.

Regards the wheels fitting, some cars have upgraded brakes, which need larger wheels (for example on the 3 and 5 series BMW the MSport brake pack needs minimum 18" wheels), so you'd need to check.

When you call to inform your insurance company, they will probably say the same - as long as the wheels and tyre combination is correct for the car, then feel free.

Out of interest, I used mrwinterwheels.com for the wheels and tyres for my BMW. Very good pricing and quick delivery too.

I'm onto Mrwinterwheels!

Also try Oponeo and MyTyres for complete sets of wheels with either summer or winter tyres. Used both with total satisfaction.

Many thanks, I am still trying to determine if I will be disadvantaged in anyway if I fit non-mercedes wheels.

If that's a particular concern, then you can usually find sets of genuine second-hand wheels on ebay or the like.

Even, occasionally, at a Merc dealership. It's not unknown for customers to want different wheels on a car to what it's for sale with, so the dealer ends up with sets of wheels sitting around cluttering up the workshop.

Some dealerships have their own ebay outlets for selling off those items.

Thank RobJPs, never considered that as an option- I'll give it a go.
