SAAB 9-3 - Saab TiD 2006 - Traction Control/Limp Mode - Taliesin

Hi guys, this query relates to a Saab 9-3 Vector Sport 150 Manual 2006, (high miles). The car was in Limp Mode combined with traction control failure messaging and engine management light. RAC Investigation revealed the following:


System Type: ENGINE SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC & INFORMATION

Name: Z19DTH - 1.9TID - EDC16 - 1.9L - 110 (150)

DTC: P1120, Accelerator potentiometer; value not plausible

DTC: P1122, Accelerator position sensor 1-2 correlation

System Type: ENGINE SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC & INFORMATION

Name: Z19DTH - 1.9TID - EDC16 - 1.9L - 110 (150)

Z19DTH - 1.9TIDS - EDC16 - 1.9L - 110 (150)

DTC: P1120, Pedal Position Sensor Circuit. Plausibility Fault between Circuit 1 and 2

DTC: P1122, Pedal Position Sensor Circuit. Plausibility Fault between Circuit 1 and 2

Actions: Throttle body changed. Accelerator pedal & potentiometer changed.

The car then started ok although the engine management light was on. A further mobile mechanic diagnostic tool corrected the codes. The car was then fine for a short while.

However some miles down the mode, the car was back Limp Mode combined with traction control failure messaging and engine management light back on.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Yeah. Take it to someone who knows what they're doing. There are plenty of good Saab specialists up and down the land. Seek out and join the Saab Owners Club UK on Facebook and ask for a recommendation (but don't forget to tell members where you are!)

In the meantime, what are the new codes? Start by checking all connections and wiring to the throttle pedal.

This will be the 1.9 tdi engine commonly found in various GM,Fiat and Saab models.If the fault is still logging a throttle pedal fault,then I would suspect either an ecu problem or an issue with the wiring between the throttle pedal and the engine control unit,which is (worrying)fitted behind the front bumper.Has the car had any front end damage?The throttle body has no direct connection the the pedal.

Thanks for this, I think you are spot on. I am not aware of any front end damage. However I have now decided to sell for spares/repairs due to lack of time/inclination.
