Volvo S40 1.6d 2008 - fuel rail pressure sensor replacement - olivier74

The car has an intermittent fault, stuttering, got the diag tool and comes up with P0192 fuel rail pressure sensor A circuit low.

Can purchase a replacement but wondering if this is a DIY job. Seraching the net, I read you can depressurise the rail by unplugging a fuse and let the engine die off...not sure of that one.

Can you change the part without depressurising before?

The sensor may be the problem, but then again it may not. The fault code suggests a circuit fault, but the ECM has no way of determining whereabouts on the circuit the fault lies. It could be the sensor, wiring, connectors or ECM.....

As I and many others have said, fault codes are only a rough guide .You can't fix cars by these alone.A car that has run out of fuel would likely flag the same fault code.So ,would you change the rail pressure sensor if the tank had no diesel in it ?As this is the Ford/Psa engine, the first thing I would change would be the fuel filter.
