bmw e39 525d 2002 - engine mount change - xlcelt

hi, i will be changing the l/h engine mount on my e39, and wondered if anyone had any tips? is it best to remove the mount bracket or is ok to lift the engine off the mount?

I did have an E39 a few years ago but never changed an engine mount but the normal procedure is to take the weight of the engine with the jack, undo the bolts then lift the engine clear of the mount, remove the bolts then the mounting.
