Volkswagen Passat 2.0 CR Tdi 2008 - Cutting out / stalling / non start - VW & Seat owner

The car has been now and again over the past 6 months cutting out, starting to shudder and stalling or refusing to start.

No fault codes are stored and have had the the timing adjusted as it was slightly out. That has stopped the shuddering that happened shortly after starting from cold.

Couple of weeks ago it would start after a short trip to the supermarket and called the AA out which managed to start it in the end.

Has anyone else had this problem and it would be great to know what is causing it!!

Apart from that, it's been a great car since new.

There are so many possibles that can cause these to cut out.Cr diesels need a good supply of fuel for the system to operate correctly.In tank supply pump could cause a cutting out fault.Has the fuel filter been changed recently?

Hi, Thanks for your reply. Fuel filter has been changed recently, so may mention the fuel tank sender unit/pump.

I did have a secondary fuel pump & fuel distributor rail changed on my 2010 2.0tdi transporter at 120,000 miles.
