Hi all, my gs450h has duff AC. As none of the pipework was remotely cold, i suspected a leak. I was right. The ATS guy pressurised the system but it didnt hold. He says it could 'be anything' (obviously) but i didnt have time to start taking the system apart. I asked if the UV dye would be visible later when i took the car home, he said no, the dye is only visible when the system is pressurised.

Any ideas where i go from here? The condensor maybe? Or more likely, a seal somewhere.

Is there a kit i can buy to pressurise the system with normal air so i know where to look?

thanks guys/girls

Get an aircon specialist to look at it.

The compressor could have failed, seals failed, the condenser holed etc.

Zero chance of remote diagnostics.

Whoever you take it to,make sure that have adequate training with a/c on hybrids.Although the refridgerant gas is the same, the system method of operation and lubricating oils are different to a conventional car.

However ,this car is a parallel hybrid, not a series hybrid like most.On a parallel hybrid both the electric motor and/or the ic. motor can power the car directly-on a series, only the electric motor powers the car with the ic. motor only used to charge the batteries.

I know an excellent guy who works mobile near Leicester, but you don’t say where you are.

Do not attempt to pressurize with ordinary air.

Inspect the system visually to look for potential leak points (split joint or pipe, damaged condenser)
