Hey guys got a 1999 x reg terrano 2.7td

It has ran great the month iv owned it but today I floored it. (Don't often do this)

When it got to around 2 700 - 300 revs in second it really held back. Moved to 3rd pulled and the the same at same rev range.

It's continuesly does this. Starts stops drives perfect until that rev range.

If I try to push past it it revs up slowly and eml pops on until change gear and it goes off.

Nissan fault codes 21 and 31 are present. When the missfire occurs it smokes quite a lot I think it's gray smoke but hard to tell in the rear view mirror

Any terrano/maverick experts???

Air and fuel filters any good?

Might be EGR valve sticking? Think on this age of vehicle it might be vacuum operated, think you could just blank the vac hose to try?

Thankyou for that. If I can find egr il dissabled it. There a problem waiting to happen from experience. The following msg I'd wrote out before I seen your reply.

So today wen about cleaning the micro in pump filter. That wasn't actually there when I took the banjo bolt out. So that was ruled out. When I looked down to the pump for the banjo I notice what I would describe as a shiny piece of micro bore steel sticking out the back of the pump. Very out of place as everything else was pitted with oily dirt. Anyway pushed pump primer and heard diesel splashing on floor. On further inspection that pipe should of had what I guess Is a fuel return or overflow pipe attached which had popped off. So I reconnected it. Went for a drive and problem seems cured? Could that pipe of popped off yesterday and caused my origonal problem?

I'm not yet jumping for joy as I had to disconnect the battery for access so thinking that may of temporarily reset the ecu into running right but I guess il no by the end of the day?
