BMW 6 Series msport - BMW 640d Internal fire damage Advice needed please - DRP

Bit of a strange one and was just wondering if anyone could possibly help me out as i really do not know what to do next, try and cut a long story short.

Leased a 640d company car april 5th 2016 on 22nd april i finished my journey back from home got out the car as normal around 6pm locked the car and ate my tea, went back out to the car at 8.20pm to open the door to bellows of smoke some how the door had ignited and caused serious damage to the door card, any way spoke to BMW straight away tor emove car of premises which they did.

After liasing with BMW they told me that my car would be taken to local dealer for inspection in the mean time i rejected the veichle and asked for lease to to be cancelled they said they would do this pending inspector finding the fault who was apparently coming over from germany.

4 weeks down the line with no update from BMW at all the inspector has supposidely seen car and found no faults what so ever and i am being told the door card is going for analysis to see what casued the fire and they suggested i contacted my insurers which i ignored.

Today BMW have told me that they will can not tell me what caused the fire and will not send me the inspectors report and i am supposed to claim on MY insurance for the damage and they will collecting my 'loan' car this week.

In my experience (im no genious with cars) but they do not just ignite with no fault found only problem is how do i proceed?? Spoke to insurers they virtually say that they will send there inspectors to inspect but BMW have aready stripped the car and more than likely removed any evidence that might of been.

Any constructive feedback would be greatly appreciated

THANKS

DAVID

It's a B2B Lease so Consumer Rights go out of the window.

Presumably you have a similar free car hire - so you are still mobile.

I would write to them (& the finance Co) (I assume you are the manager/director who signed the order/lease) and give them say 7 days to return a fully repaired car.

Failing that ask for your deposit back & any out of pocket expenses you may have spent.

With a clean slate you can then lease another car from them or someone else.

This is 'a bit of a strange one'. Are you leasing the car directly from BMW GB?

Whoever is leasing the car to you - surely repairs and insurance are their problem rather than yours?

If an actual Business Lease then unless that monthly rental included servicing/maintenance the hirer is responsible for repairs in conjunction with the standard makers warranty. Insurance is your responsibility
