Thanks for the post Concrete,
Great to have some feedback following the launch of the ATA.
You make a valid point, however we feel that in no way are we re-inventing the wheel, and here is why..
Trade bodies are indeed present, however the market is continuously flooded with unprofessional, inexperienced and rogue dealerships - which the quality dealerships amongst us, and indeed the public are desperate to avoid.
The ATA offers a solution in ensuring its members adhere to a specially designed audit process which drives good working practices. We also manage all of our members and provide quarterly reviews in order for dealerships to continuously improve their working processes.
Our stock & search functionality is available to all members and included in the annual membership fee - providing a huge saving to dealerships when compared to the market dominators (AutoTrader) who are squeezing the quality independent dealerships out of the market with their extortionate listing fee's.
We also promote an ethical search function, without the ability to pay to be "top of class", irrelevant of the quality of the product or service.
The ATA is created by reputable dealerships, for reputable dealerships to build a collective of quality automotive dealer that the public can rely on. We also engage with the public, who when dealing with one of our members are able to review their experience through the ATA website. We work directly with the dealership and the public to resolve any issues as and when they arise (unlike other review websites, who take no action).
Why the need to treat dealerships as hostile when you could rely on a resource which the public, and the dealerships alike work together on to build a collective of certified, trusted and reliable automotive dealerships?

The ATA Team.
