Vauxhall Vectra C - Battery Drain - Alan82

Hi Guys

I have had a slow battery drain on my Vectra for about a year. If left for about 1-2 weeks its goes totally dead. Have replaced battery and still same thing happens Today I have investigated it a little bit.

I found that F31 in the engine fusebox was drawing 60mA when the car was asleep. When I pulled it the draw went down to just 7mA. After replacing it I invested fuses further down the line.

I found that when F1 (infotainment system) in the passenger fusebox was pulled out the battery draw went from 60mA down to 10mA.

So is 60mA normal? I know there will always be some drain but that to me seems on the high side.

If anyone can shed any light onto when my next step should be it would be greatly appreciated.

btw, its has a sony head unit fitted so think ill also try pulling that out to see if the battery draw goes down.

Any Help it most apprciated.

60 mA is not too high,but would be good a little less, and not enough to flatten a battery to death over 1-2 weeks.As it has a non standard head unit,it may be an idea to disconnect it just in case it has not been wired correctly.Also pulling fuses on a modern car with can bus electrical system is not the correct way to check for current drain.

At 60ma it would take something like 18 hours to draw 1 Ah, so over two weeks it will take about 18 Ah, if the battery is fairly new and in good condition it should stand that but because of the multiplate construction of car batteries they will still deliver enough current to start the car when their capacity is down to 25% or less but will have very little reserve.

I think you said you had fitted a new battery, in that case disconnect the alternator lead and see if any current is being drawn when the engine is off.
