purchased 2year old citigo on february one year left on the warranty, after a few weeks i have had alot of problems trying to engage reverse gear first to second this can be awkward in some situations, the dealership says it is a feature as opposed to a designe fault, i was not made aware in any literature on the car, of this feature, has anybody out ther found similar problems i am very diappointed it was not pointed out before i bought the car, the dealership checked the car out and said that nothing was wrong, iwas told to double clutch, or force the car into gear, any opinions on this. jockboy 17 03 16

The easiest response to any dealer who fobs you off by saying something is a feature is to demand a test drive there and then of a similar vehicle - they will either be right or proved to be a liar.

By co incidence I've had a Citigo today as courtesy vehicle while my Roomster was serviced. Almost new 65 plate and, so far as I can ascertain it's a 1.0/75PS SE L Greentech.

Gears seemed fine to me. Not a fan of stop/start though.

I'd try taking it to another Skoda or other VAG dealer for a second opinion - VW Up! and Seat thingy are identical except for bage engineered market features. A baulky gearbox will not be one of them.

Also worth Googling the problem and asking questions on Briskoda and other VAG forums.

Our Citigo doesn't have that "feature." I'd be back at the dealership demanding it was fixed if it did have that "feature."

According to the owner forums, the transmission is certainly not one of the best features of the UP/Citigo. But this may not be an actual fault, it may be that there's no synchro on reverse. Before selecting reverse, try putting the car slowly into first, then gently go through neutral and into reverse, allowing the gears to stop spinning and then mesh gently. This usually works.

Another Greentech Citig owner here and I can confirm the absence of this feature too. Don't let the dealer fob you off with their suggestion of double-clutching or using force.

hi thanks for that, i was begining to think it was all down to my driving, it seems that other owners may be experienscing some gearbox problems, not good for such a new car, thanks for the reply. jockboy.
