AA Vehicle inspection question - graham123

Do you think that a 206 point check AA comprehensive vehicle inspection would detect any performance issues with a car related to the engine, exhaust, clutch or gearbox?

AA Vehicle inspection question - RobJP

Why don't you ask the AA ?

At the same time, ask them your inane repetitive questions about oil level.

AA Vehicle inspection question - oldroverboy.

1. Rob why complain about the OP? (or whinge) Not everyone knows as much as some of the forum members, and even after most of my working life in the Motor trade i realise that I am out of date too!

2. Just say that the inspection is that, and only that. It is not a test drive.

If you ask the AA for the gold level inspection, they will remove the engine oil for analysis and check the grade/spec and frothing level.!!!

oldroverboy : the OP in this case is the person who has been asking loads of questions about oil level. Will it damage an engine if it's 1mm above max, 1 inch above max, etc, etc, on occasions for a month or two. In spite of getting lots of helpful information (basically, do not let it go above max, the limit is there for a reason), he has posted another similar question today.

Hence my reply, and doc's reply too regarding the oil frothing level.

Your question is rather vague but I think it'll be answered if you get in touch with the AA and ask whether their inspection involves a test drive.

I Googled 'AA inspection' and there's a phone number on the AA website specifically for queries about inspections.

(Rob - the question wasn't about oil levels so there was no need for your rude comment. If you don't like someone's post and haven't anything constructive to say about it, it's really quite easy just not to post anything at all on the thread.)

Things like AA inspections have so many get-out clauses it's highly debatable whether they're worth having, anyway. It would be virtually impossible to hold them responsible for anything they might have happened to have missed or got wrong.

Engines, exhausts, clutches or gearboxes can "go" on any car at any period of it's life. For real piece of mind-avoid car ownership?

Heh – so true!...

They will usually test drive a car briefly as long as it is road legal.

Note that the AA don't usually do inspections - they just sub it out to 3rd parties these days.

It is a bit pot luck as to who you get as to whether they are any good or not.

True, although I find the biggest challenge these days is where to find cheap k******s. No one seems to promote them anymore.

I think Robs answer is perfectly reasonable. The OP has asked the question about oil level several times, (again yesterday) and is either too bone idle to read the replies, too stupid to understand them or is an internet troll trying to get the exact reation his repeat postings have created.

I was tempted to reply to his repeat question about oil levels yesterday but resisted. Best just to ignore him, he will hopefully go away.

You will not be surprised that I agree withAvant. I respect and have learned a lot from Rob's posts. However, as has been said by our moderator (unpaid) its is quite easy just not to post.

Forums attract a wide range of people. Unpleasant comments, such as you have made skidpan, simply deter many people from participating.

Robs answer isn't even related to what was being asked. Like Avant said if you don't like a poster just ignore them and move on.
