The autos are lovely drives IMO, surprisingly compliant ride too on those narrow high sidewall tyres, which look too small to support the weight of the things but obviously well up to the job, rolled black cabs are not exactly thick on the ground, but don't expect modern traction control systems or to be throwing it about on wet roads like a hot hatch.
Corrosion is a biggy, the chassis is strong but not well painted at all, and unfortunately i suspect few will have been subject to any extra rustproofing.
I carried lots of them, new and used, would suggest looking for an auto as its more likely to have been a London cab, IMHO the London cabs i've shifted used have been in better condition than the Manc and Glasgow fleets where more manuals are sent, plus the London fleets are likely to have seen less road salt overall.
