Hi,
I have a 2012 Skoda Octavia 1.4TSI 122, approx 30,000 miles, full Skoda service history and mid-service oil changes since 15,000 miles. The water pump has started to whistle a bit and, on taking it to the local Skoda main dealer, they said it needed replacing and, on my asking, offered 100% goodwill to fix it. I was pleased with that response, given that it's out of warranty. Anyway, given what I've read about timing chain problems with the 1.4 TSI range, and although it looks to be more of an issue with the higher power variants than the 122, would it be worth asking the dealer to replace the timing chain while they have it apart to replace the water pump? Or maybe I'm being a bit over-cautious...
Thanks,
Mark.
