Which Polo?
My mother-in-law might swap her diesel Jetta for a Polo. Use: mainly local trips, v rarely 40 mile motorway trip. It must be automatic. Is diesel or petrol better? I worry about a DPF and anyway it might not get run in for a long time. So is it best to buy new or a year or two old with some motorway mileage? And which Polo model would you say is the best in this situation?

Polo 1.2TSI DSG. They don't do it yet, but they will have to eventually. Diesel totally unsuitable for this sort of use.
