Which large six-cylinder diesel automatic should replace our Saab Vector Sport?
My wife and I do a combined 30,000 miles a year; 25,000 myself, mainly medium to long distance motorway work and my wife around 5000 of more local mileage. We try to split the milage 50/50 between a Freelander 2 HSE auto diesel (brand new in May this year, our third in nine years) and a 2008 Saab Vector Sport Convertible, 1.9TiD, automatic, with Hersch Performance. I will look to change the Saab in 12 months, with approximately 55,000 miles on the clock. I am minded to go for comfort as the major purchasing criteria (we're late 50's and the back isn't as supple as it used to be) and would look for a large, six-cylinder diesel, 4-door saloon, automatic, preferably with folding rear seats although not essential. Up to four years old, up to 40,000 miles if FSH is available, and I would hope to spend no more than the Saab plus £10,000. What would you suggest?

Get rid of the SAAB asap because it has a very dodgy, problem-prone engine. Go for a W211 Mercedes-Benz E320CDI, post-2006 facelift. Lovely cars.
