I've been involved in a non-fault accident. Should I use the other party's insurer's 'Accident Assistance' service?

I have been involved in an accident which has left my vehicle badly damaged, but usable. The other party (farm tractor and trailer) suffered no damage, but his trailer caught my rear driver's side wheel arch as he passed me on a narrow road. I was stationary (to let him pass) and he was travelling at an excessive speed considering the road type. I have all his insurance details. The local main dealer for my vehicle has offered me their 'Accident Assistance' service which will manage the claim for me and provide a replacement vehicle of a similar type while the repairs are carried out at a central specialist repair facility. Does this sound like the best route to take, or will I be at a disadvantage not contacting my insurer directly?

The main dealer is probably looking to be paid a very substantial commission for putting you on to their "accident assistance" service. The replacement vehicle will be a credit hire for which you can be lumbered with the bill, if either the hire or the repair are delayed, which may occur by your "accident assistance" person acting in cahoots with the credit hire company and the repairer - see this thread: www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=71320

However, your insurer is likely to be slow and if there is any dispute over liability they may not fight your corner.
