I've found a solution to the Renault Clio II coil light fault associated with a stalling engine.
I think I have cracked the problem related to the Renault Clio coil light coming on, followed by fluctuating revs and cutting out at junctions and when driving off. I have the 1.2 (1149cc) 16v Clio II Expression 2002. The problem is located in the air intake manifold. Once the air intake manifold is removed, you will notice the protruding engine oil breather pipe, along with an opening directly to the engine on top of the engine block. You will notice a black seal around it. Under the actual plastic manifold you will notice a tube which is part of the manifold which rests on top of this opening where the breather pipe is. At the end of the tube under the manifold manifold, you will notice a very small hole. This may have got blocked by engine oil grime over time. This will need to be unblocked with some carb cleaner along with the throttle body next to it, which may also have engine oil grime on it. The breather pipe may also have got blocked therefore ensure to check that also.
The MAP (Manifold Air Pressure) sensor on top of the manifold may have engine oil on it if engine oil has escaped into the air intake manifold. Check that also, and wipe away any oil around it and if possible clear the hole in which it plugs into.
Caution! You will need to disconnect the battery and fuel line thus expect petrol spillage. Ensure you have a towel to soak up the petrol, as it will squirt out a small amount whilst disconnecting. You will also need to disconnect sensors etc. Buy Haynes Manuel 2001 - 2005 and follow part 7 on page 4A.6, and part 14 on pages 4A.15 and 4A16. The engine wiring loom may also be damaged where the loose black caged box rests on top of the ECU, which may play part as a contributing factor. Hope this helps with a huge saving from unnecessary garage bills!
