I'm thinking of buying a Mazda 3 - is this a good idea?

I am thinking of buying a Mazda 3, as it seems to be a good car and offers better value for money and is less common than a Volkswagen Golf. Do you think this is a good idea? Also, I am not sure about the digital service record - can independent garages still service the car and update the record, or do I have to use a dealer?

No, independent garages cannot update the digital service record. But they are decent enough cars, Ford-based, with Mazda petrol engines and Peugeot/Ford diesels. I liked the basic 1.6 petrol 4-door in my test at HJUK.
