My Mercedes-Benz C270 has developed an electrical fault in the dash. Do you think Mercedes-Benz will contribute?

I purchased my Mercedes-Benz C270 estate on 1 September 2004 new from a Mercedes-Benz dealer. The instrument panel needs replacement due to an electronic fault in the panel (cause unknown!), at a cost of £1000. I would not expect a fault to develop in such a quality car after five years. Mercedes-Benz will not accept any responsibility. Is it possible to try to get the manufacturer to contribute to the cost under the Supply of Goods Act?

No. You have no rights over a car of this age and any rights you might have had in English law are against the supplying dealer, not the manufacturer or the importer.
