What SUV or 4x4 would you recommend to go off road?

My father goes shooting about 10 times a year and he's after a 4x4 or SUV, possibly an Audi Q5. What would your recommendations be?

For serious off road work, nothing beats a Land Rover and for his purposes the best is probably a Range Rover Sport, preferably 2012 or later with the 8-speed transmission. Handles better than a Q5 on the road and is simply brilliant off the road on 19-inch Pirelli Scorpion ATS tyres.

Bigger and more economical than the old model. Great to drive on-road but with typical Land Rover off road ability. Fantastic traction and ability in the worst conditions.
Even more refined and upmarket than original Q5. Lovely quality interior. Electric tailgate fitted as standard. 2.0 litre petrol plug-in hybrid from May 2019.
