My Audi A3 was supplied with 'bump stops' still fitted and has been damaged. Should the dealer repair the damage?

I have an Audi A3 which I bought new in 2007 and now has done 19,000 miles. The car has recently developed a noise at the front, so I took it into an Audi dealership for investigative work. They discovered that two "bump stops" had been left in place on the offside front wheel. These should be removed as part of the pre-delivery inspection. They recommended that the shock assembly be replaced. I have also had this checked by an independent Audi specialist who agrees with the dealership. I have since found out that shock systems should be replaced in pairs.

Do I have a case to get the dealer who supplied the car to replace both front shocks because of the damage their mistake has done to the offside shock? Also, as the dealer who supplied the car is in the Midlands and I am in Lancashire, could I get the work done by a local dealer and paid for by the supplier? Finally, could there be any other parts of the car which might have been damaged by the stops being left in place, and do you think I am entitled to compensation for having driven a defective car for the last three years?

Get the car back to the original supplying dealer to be rectified free of charge, but if you have been driving it in this state for three years you simply will not notice any difference between both suspension struts being replaced and just one being replaced.
