Why won't Volkswagen replace my Golf's oxidised alloy wheels?
I bought in November 2009 (privately) a Volkswagen Golf GTI (January 2008) with 9300 miles and a full Volkswagen dealer service history. I noticed, only a month after major servicing at my local Volkswagen dealer, early 'white worm' corrosion appearing on all four alloys, around the wheel nut recesses. Aware of this common issue, I approached my dealer regarding this. I was surprised when the warranty manager declared that although the offside wheels would be replaced under warranty, the nearside pair would not. He stated that as the amount of corrosion was smaller than the amount of kerb marks on each wheel (mild to say the least) there would be no redress. I certainly do not expect four alloys to begin to rot after only two and a half years, and 16000miles of use. What should I do?

You can't expect Volkswagen to replace kerbed alloys because they also have some oxidation on them. That's like having a car with paint scratches then demanding a repaint because of some bird lime damage.
