My Audi A4 has been recalled for a potential plenum chamber fault, but it's already broken down. What are my rights?

I received a recall letter last Wednesday for a potential problem with my Audi A4's plenum chamber. Ironically my car broke down on Saturday and, according to the AA, it was caused by water corrosion in my braking system. The car has been with the Audi garage all week and looking on the internet it appears that I am one of many people experiencing the same problem. The Audi officials seem to be deliberating and waiting on someone to authorise the repair work. I actually bought the car six months ago privately and in good will, and although I've driven the car relatively trouble-free, have experienced one previous breakdown which cost a lot of money to rectify. I now believe that even this problem was a result of water ingress due to the water sitting in the plenum chamber. There seem to be an array of scary issues that have arisen due to this problem. Please can you kindly advise me on my rights and the proper course of action?

Interesting that the car should finally be recalled for this fault that affects A4 B5s, A4 B6s, A4B7s and Passat B5s and B6s. Which is yours? (What's the reg?) This is well covered in car-by-car breakdown, but not the safety recall, which is new.
