Which specification Ford Fiesta best suits my needs?
I love my X-reg 1.25 Fiesta Zetec, but it's definitely starting to show its age and I think it's about time I replaced it. Ideally I'd like to buy a new Fiesta, but I'm not sure which spec would best suit my needs. I'm not likely to cover more than 3000 miles a year and most usage is only short journeys. However, I do travel between Newport and Essex several times a year, so I want something with enough power and comfort for the M4/M25 run. Do you think the 1.25l petrol would be suitable, or should I opt for the 1.4l for the extra power? I'm looking at the Zetec trim so the 1.6l Ti-VCT doesn't seem to be an option.

A 1.4 would be better. But also consider a Mazda 2 1.3TS2. That's a great little car. Chain cam engine, and quite high gearing, so it's not buzzy on the motorway. It has better handling than a Fiesta and is very economical. The best model is the 1.3 TS2, which is slightly more powerful than the base 1.3 and with longer gearing than the 1.5.
