What's causing a 'humming' noise to come from my P-reg Ford Fiesta's front wheel?

I had a knocking noise from my P-reg Ford Fiesta's front offside wheel. I was told it was a warped wheel so I changed to a full set of alloys, but now I have a humming noise from the same wheel and the knocking noise is still there. I put a steel wheel back on and the humming stopped. I put the alloy back on and it started humming again.

I would suggest that you take your car to a area where you can turn full circles (ie a supermarket car park when closed). Drive the car at approximately 5 to 10 mph and turn the steering to the right lock and listen for any knocking sounds as you turn. Do the same for the left lock. If you do hear a knocking sound it will be that your drive shafts are worn and will need replacing.
