My car was written off and then returned to me with no payout - what should I do?

My car was written off as a Category D. It was stolen and recovered, then just returned to me after four months. The insurance company never paid out, so now I have a Cat D car and I don't know what to do. I feel really hard done as my insurance premium has gone up, I have a Cat D write off and I didn't get paid out. Can you offer any advice?

Get it reversed. The car cannot have been "written off" because you have not been paid. Your insurer is therefore liable for the cost to you of it labelling your car and for any increase in premium. What I don't understand is why you had not been paid in the four months you did not have the car.
