How important is it to use super unleaded fuel if recommended by a manufacturer?

I have just bought a 9 month old third generation Honda Jazz SE. The manual recommends the use of 95RON super unleaded petrol. Will I damage the engine if I use ordinary unleaded?

95RON isn't 'Super' in the UK. It's ordinary premium unleaded, the lowest grade you can get. The confusion arises because some countries use MON instead of RON and there, approximately, 92MON = 95RON and 95MON = 98RON. Best anyway to run on 97 - 99RON Super, preferably Shell V-Power 99RON.
