What's the best 1.0-litre hatchback?
I am considering a hatchback with a small petrol engine. Which one out of these would you say is the best on Motability? Audi A3 1.0 TFSi 115 SE, Peugeot 308 1.2 130 Active, Volkswagen Golf 1.2 TSi 105, Seat Leon 1.8 TFSi FR, Ford Focus 1.0 100 Titanium. I only need to worry about fuel costs, as Motability covers maintenance and servicing. Which would you consider to be the best all-rounder? Or are there any other hatchbacks which I should consider?

VAG's new 1.0TSI is excellent in the SEAT Ateca, so must be good in the others. But the best small engine is Peugeot/Citroen's 1.2 Puretech 130 because it develops the most torque and that is well matched to the six-speed manual in the 308. I did 12,000 miles in a Peugeot 308 1.2 130 Active, average mpg 48.58, which is better than any of the others: www.honestjohn.co.uk/our-cars/peugeot-308/15th-aug.../
