Best practical car for under £5k?
I currently have a three-door Mitsubishi Colt, but need a larger car for transporting at least four people (plus myself) in comfort with room for five rucksacks in the boot, for under £5000.
I want something reliable, economical hopefully and preferably quite basic (low on gadgets to go wrong). My initial thoughts are Ford Mondeo or C-MAX, or possibly even larger. Diesel preferable, but might consider a petrol if it's cheap. What do you recommend?

Medium size: a KIA cee'd or Hyundai i30 1.6CRDI SW. Bigger, a Mondeo 2.0TDCI is probably best.
