Need a reliable car - should I buy a Skoda?
I am considering a skoda Octavia estate. I would use winter tyres in the winter. Do you think it would be a reliable car for me?

No reason why not. A 1.4TSI 125 engine is adequate; a 1.4TSI 150 engine is excellent. Get it on 16-inch wheels and fit it with Michelin Cross Climate tyres, then there is no need to change the tyres for winter.
