Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCI making a rattling noise when accelerating

I own a 2010 Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCI with 45,000 miles on the clock. In the past two weeks I've noticed a noise coming from the front of the car when I accelerate. The noise only becomes noticeable in fourth and fifth gears. Any idea what it could be?

It's simply the engine 'knocking' because the cetane of the diesel you are using is not high enough. Switch to Shell V-Power or BP Ultimate and it should disappear. You should also get slightly better fuel economy that pays back the higher cost.
