Trader refusing to supply documents

I bought used car from a trader. When I collected the car the seller said he couldn't provide a receipt due to computer problems and would send it later. He is now refusing to provide any documents. Can he withhold my contract and part exchange receipts? The car I bought has a fault and I am rejecting it.

In this circumstance, simply reject the car and sue for the return of your money: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/ But be aware, scumbag dealers like this may resist paying you even after a court order.
