What's wrong with my Ford Focus?
I have a new Ford Focus 1.5 diesel manual. Great car, several months in and no issues to report. Today, rather randomly, I have noticed what might be a fault or a characteristic with the drive which I have not encountered (or simply not noticed before).
The car revs freely in neutral up and down no issues whatsoever, however when I engage first gear and start to let the clutch up the revs 'stick' a little at 1500rpm, as though they are being artificially held there. A little more power sees the revs climb but it's like it hits a buffer of sorts. Before I book in for a once over at the dealer does this sound like an issue?

It's probably deliberate to restrict the torque in 1st and 2nd gear to prevent damage to the transmission. Ford dd this with the Fiesta 1.6 diesel and avoided the need for a dual mass flywheel. There has been trouble with the clutch slave cylinders and DMFs in Focus 1.0 EcoBoosts so they may have used this limiter in the Focus 1.5TDCI to give them an easier life.
