Should I buy a Mercedes-Benz E220 CDI Avantgarde or a BMW 520d SE Touring?
I am now retired and in the fortunate position of being able to afford one last new decent car. Our priorities are comfort and driving enjoyment. The car must be diesel (for economy) and estate with an automatic gearbox. I cannot make a decision between a Mercedes-Benz E220 CDI Avantgarde and the new BMW 520d SE Touring.

The new E-Class estate is the best looking of the new Es. Mercedes-Benz has been having some trouble with its piezo injectors, a percentage of which are coming through of insufficiently fine quality. The BMW F10 is an excellent car. Can't say for the 520, but the 530d saloon is video tested on this site.
