What's the best car for ride comfort?

I am thinking about my next car, I'm looking for something to deal with the numerous pot holes and rather large speed bumps on the way to my son's school. In general do 4x4/suv have more robust parts to cope with this? Would a good tyre wheel combination make any difference to absorbing the impacts? What would you recommend?

Try a Honda HRV on 215/55 R17 Michelin Cross Climates. That is smooth over humps.
