Need a versatie small auto

My wife has a 2005 Toyota Yaris Verso automatic which has done 34,000 miles. It has been completely reliable and is in excellent condition, a good load-lugger and great for carrying our four dogs. She now wants to change it for something newer, but with the same versatility as the Yaris. What do you recommend?

Nothing has the same low loading versatility as the Yaris Verso except for the Jazz based Honda Freed that was never sold in the UK. The most spacious small hatch with a flat, low load deck remains the Jazz, but the dogs will have to jump over a sill or enter via one of the rear side doors. The Jazz CVT-7 is relatively reliable and only seems to fail if very old or if fluid and filter changes are missed.

Unrivalled practicality and versatility. Plenty of room for four adults to travel in comfort. Surprisingly fun to drive, especially 1.5 i-VTEC Sport.
