Should I buy the BMW X1 or Land Rover Freelander II?
I am interested in buying either a new or nearly new BMW X1 1.8 diesel or Land Rover Freelander 2 2.2 diesel. I am looking for a 4-wheel drive, 5-door car. Which one do you think would be better value and most reliable?

The Freelander II has been pretty good, but the balance of probability is that the smaller X1 4WD will be more reliable. It isn't a 1.8, it's a 2.0, offered in three different outputs. They aren't all 4WD, so that needs to be specified. There's a rather rushed video test at: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/bmw/bmw-x1-road-te...t
