How can I prove my car was damaged before it was delivered to me?

I collected a new SEAT Leon ST just before Christmas, which I am very happy with. After five days of ownership I noticed a small dent, chipped paintwork and scratches to the front wing and bumper. I was obviously quite annoyed and couldn't think when the damage had been done, the only thing I could think was perhaps when parked at the supermarket.

I contacted my dealer, who arranged for an independent repairer to have a look - the repairer said there was no way the damage could have been done in a car park, and that he was pretty sure it was like that when I collected the car, as the paint has been touched up already. I feel the dealer has been dishonest, or perhaps wasn't aware of the damage to the car (although someone at the dealership must have been).

What should my course of action be? I don't want to pay the repair costs on a brand new car, but I know I didn't notice the damage when I collected the car (in the rain).

Depends what the dealer is prepared to admit. He already went part way by putting you in touch with the independent repairer. But you can't prove conclusively that the damage was done before you took delivery of the car.
