Can a garage charge me for not fixing a fault?

I have a 2002 Volkswagen Golf. One of the rear doors failed to open and then a month later the other rear door got stuck and remains locked.

A local garage could not fix the problem, so I took it a Volkswagen dealership. They replaced a couple of electrical components, but this failed to fix the problem. Yet they charged me £380. Is it right they can charge me for not fixing the problem?

No. And if you have told me the whole story I don't think a Small Claims County Court judge would think so either. So suggest to the dealer that this is how you settle the matter.
