Why is my 1998 Citroen Saxo difficult to start?

I have been reading your responses about starting problems with Citroen Saxo and have seen that you believe it could be the transponder aerial. My 1998 Saxo's issue is intermittent, however it can be a problem whether it' hot or cold weather conditions. On the occasion where the fault occurs, I turn the ignition but it doesn't fire. I then try again after some time. When I leave it and again try to start it, on some occasions it fires up, on others I have to keep the key turned in the ignition and the car just doesn't turn over. Then it starts to 'chug' and after a couple of moments it revs into life. I'm not sure if this is because its bypassing the immobiliser by itself. Please could you advise any further information?

Probably a bad earth somewhere. You will need help from a car electrical specialist (Yellow Pages).
