Turbo failure & high oil consumption Outside warranty claim

My 2010 Skoda Scout 1.8TSI developed very high oil consumption after 80K miles. This was a few months outside my warranty that I had extended to 5 years.Investigation determined that this was caused by turbo failure. Cost of repair was discounted by a Skoda dealer to about £1800. I complained to Skoda who have offered me the next two services free of charge as it had been Skoda dealer-serviced since new & I had a Skoda Service & Maintenance Plan for the first 3 years. I was hoping for more goodwill from the manufacturer since the car is less than 6 years old. Should I accept the situation or take it further using Sale of Goods Act in Small Claims Court?

The problems might be caused by turbo oil seal failure, but this EA288 CDAA engine is also notorious for piston ring failure, has been compulsorily recalled in the USA for this reason, and Audis in the UK with the same problem are being fixed FoC. Make these points to the supplying dealer and threaten Small Claims action based on the NHTSA recall as outlined in various entries in www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/
