Rattle from my Land Rover Freelander

I have a 52 plate Freelander and got back from an 80 mile round trip and for the last 20 miles when idling or pulling away, a bit of a rattle has developed from drivers side low down. Pull off and alls good.

It was left overnight and started fine and was all quiet untill it did about 15 mile then the noise again. According to service history it had the VCU done at 65k and a new crank pulley in June 2014.

Well with not hearing the noise makes it rather difficult to identify. Our first thought would have been the crank pulley damper, but you have said it was replaced last year.

Are you getting any excessive smoke from the exhaust and if so what colour? Have you had any form of diagnostic carried out on the engine and if so did you get a fault code?
