Cross climate tyres and insurance
With the winter fast approaching I'm thinking of fitting Michelin Cross Climate Tyres to my A3 as soon as the existing tyres wear out, which will be soon. However the Michelin Website indicates 225/45 R17 94 W tyres for my Audi, but the car came fitted with 225/45 R17 91 Y.
My major concern is that the "W" rated Tyre is a lower speed rating than a "Y" tyre. Also the 94 load rating is for 670kg rather than 615kg.
Michelin say the tyre is fully compatible, but I'm just concerned about any insurance or warranty implications from driving round with a difference spec tyre especially with the lower speed rating, although I'd never get near the theoretical maximum speed of either tyre.

It's a standard difference for a cold weather / all weather tyre. I'm 99% sure it will be okay with your insurer, but wise to check with your insurer first.
