A dealer has pulled a warranty he gave me on a car after being dissatisfied with my part-exchange. What can I do?
I purchased a car today. I am really happy with it, though the "full service" he stated was only a quickie and I have a tyre on the legal limit, and just as I left the dealership he mentioned that the radio/CD player doesn't work, but I have to accept these sorts of things with a secondhand car. Anyway, I'm still happy with it. The dealer took my old car as part exchange, but didn't drive it before the sale. I gave him full paperwork showing full service history, full MOT and a full service with cam belt change. I had been happy with the vehicle so I wasn't expecting the dealer's reaction.
Now he's driven the car, he's not happy with it. He's complaining that it needs work doing to it, though the issues he has with my old vehicle have been checked and I was told were not mechanical issues and did not affect the vehicle. Now the dealer is saying that if I don't stump up some money for the repairs he will pull the warranty he gave me today as part of the sale for my new car. Can he do this? Can he bully me in this way? Do I have any legal standing in reference to this issue? Can I threaten legal action if he pulls the warranty?

No, he can't do this. He should have checked your car first. Get straight on to the local Trading Standards. He can't make you pay for his mistake.
