Volkswagen Service
My daughter had her Volkswagen Polo serviced in August and reported to the service manager that her 6 month old car had juddering steering under braking. She was told that it was not a warranty issue and beyond the 6 month period in which the brake discs might be replaced (only by two weeks because it took a while to get a service appointment). Also told that they did not consider it a problem, on being further asked if it had been noticed on a test drive, she was told that the traffic was too heavy for a proper test drive. Generally, the service manager was dismissive and patronising.
This week, I undertook to contact the after sales director of the dealership about the matter as the juddering is noticeable even by a passenger. After a frank discussion about their attitude to a young woman on dealing with the issue, she was offered another appointment to have her car examined. I quoted from your website about report that the pads on Polos were depositing material on the discs.
As a result of this review of the car, they replaced the discs on all four wheels. They still claimed that the damage was due to extensive heavy braking even though that didn't happen. She had no issues with her Fiesta or i20 before buying the Polo in January 2015. To replace all 4 discs would indicate a serious problem.
What a difference that a few months has made to Volkswagen.

You're not kidding. Yesterday they announced that VW EA189 Owners in the USA would be receiving Goodwill Money Vouchers of $500 to spend anywhere, plus $750 to spend in Volkswagen dealerships.
